About the role
We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Chef/Cook to join our kitchen team at Bridges hill bistro in Cessnock, NSW. This is a full-time position that offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our culinary operations and help us maintain our reputation for excellent food and service. As a Chef/Cook, you will play a vital role in our kitchen, working collaboratively with our team to prepare high-quality dishes that delight our guests. This position is based on-site at our Cessnock location and offers the chance to work in a dynamic hospitality environment.
What you'll be doing
Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications
Maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency across all dishes
Ensuring proper food storage, handling, and hygiene practices in compliance with food safety regulations
Managing preparation of ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning
Working efficiently during service periods to meet orders within required timeframes
Contributing to menu development and suggesting creative culinary ideas
Maintaining a clean and organised kitchen workspace and equipment
Collaborating with other kitchen staff and front-of-house team to deliver seamless guest experiences
Following all health and safety procedures and company policies
Assisting with inventory management and stock rotation as required
What we're looking for
Proven experience as a Chef/Cook in a commercial kitchen or hospitality setting
Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and food safety standards
Ability to work efficiently under pressure and during busy service periods
Excellent time management and organisational skills
A passion for quality food and attention to detail in presentation and taste
Physical fitness and stamina to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
Strong communication and teamwork abilities
Flexibility with scheduling, including potential weekends and public holidays
Current Food Safety Supervisor certification or willingness to obtain one is desirable
Relevant culinary qualifications or training is preferred but not essential if you have substantial practical experience
