Lifeline Direct (LLD) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lifeline Australia. LLD focuses on supporting the development and ongoing implementation of suicide prevention and community wellbeing programs in the regions which we operate while looking for opportunities to grow Lifeline's services in geographical areas where they do not currently exist.
LLD encompasses Lifeline Centres in Hunter region, Central Coast, Eastern Suburbs-Bondi, New England North West, Northern NSW, Geelong and South West Victoria, Northern and Western Melbourne. Our specialised and targeted servicesoperate nationally via a telehealth model.
About The Role
The University Crisis Line (UCL) service providesnon-clinicalsupport to individuals experiencing crisis and emotional distresswithintertiary educationsettings, operating within a high‐risk, high‐acuity environment.
UCL is seeking a highly skilled Practice Lead to act as a senior clinical resource, providing advanced practice guidance, coaching, and specialist clinical expertise to support high‐quality, ethical, and consistent crisis support practice. This is a unique opportunity to influence service quality, strengthen workforce capability, and contribute to the delivery of safe, trauma informed and person-centred support for students experiencing emotional distress and crisis within a tertiary education setting.
Working within established organisational frameworks, you'll play a pivotal role in coaching and developing our Crisis Supporters, contributing to credentialling and quality assurance processes, and helping ensure consistent,



high-quality practice across the service.
What You'll Do
Provide specialist practice consultation to Crisis Supporters on complex, high-risk or nuanced presentations.
Coach and develop Crisis Supporters through reflective practice and feedback.
Support credentialling, quality assurance processes, and practice improvement initiatives.
Design and deliver targeted learning activities, career development sessions or workshops aligned to identified practice needs.
Promote safe, ethical, and trauma-informed practice across the service.
Identify and elevate risks in accordance with organisational governance requirements.
Help build a culture of learning, collaboration, and clinical excellence.
About You
You are a highly experienced clinician who thrives in complex environments and is passionate about developing others. You bring strong professional judgement, a collaborative approach, and the ability to translate clinical expertise into practical guidance and learning.
Essential Requirements
Relevant tertiary qualification in
Counselling, Psychology, Social Work
, or a related discipline.
Substantial experience in
crisis intervention, suicide prevention,



or related high-risk support services
.
Demonstrated experience designing and facilitating professional development, training, or learning initiatives.
Experience providing practice guidance, coaching, supervision, or reflective support to others.
Proficiency with digital systems including Microsoft Teams, Outlook, client management platforms, and data systems.
Flexibility to work across a
24/7 service environment
, including occasional early morning and evening commitments.
