Fire Doors Plus Commercial Doors Pty Ltd is seeking experienced Welders & 1st / 2nd Class Sheet Metal Workers to join our growing team in Pomona, Queensland. This is a full-time position that offers the opportunity to work on high-quality commercial door and fire door manufacturing projects. You will be instrumental in producing precision-engineered products that meet strict industry standards and safety requirements. This role is based in office at our Pomona facility, where you will contribute directly to our manufacturing excellence and operational success.
Key responsibilities
Performing welding operations on various sheet metal components and assemblies utilising appropriate welding techniques and equipment
Reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy in all fabrication work
Operating, maintaining CNC Press Brake and Laser machinery as well as welding equipment, including MIG, TIG welding apparatus, ensuring all tools are in optimal working condition
Inspecting finished welds and sheet metal work to verify compliance with quality standards and specifications
Cutting, bending and forming sheet metal materials according to design specifications and dimensional requirements
Assembling fabricated components into complete units, ensuring proper alignment and fit
Performing preventative maintenance on welding equipment and reporting any issues promptly
Working safely in accordance with workplace health and safety regulations and company policies
Collaborating with team members and supervisors to ensure project deadlines are met
Assisting with continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes and product quality
What we're looking for
Current 1st or 2nd Class Sheet Metal Worker certification or equivalent experience /qualification




Proven welding experience with proficiency in multiple welding processes (MIG, TIG)
Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately
Experience working with sheet metal materials and fabrication techniques
Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Excellent hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills
Valid driver's licence (preferred)
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment
Commitment to workplace health and safety practices
Problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new techniques and technologies
Previous experience in the manufacturing or commercial door industry would be advantageous
