Disability and Aged Care Support Workers across Sunshine Coast & Gympie
Vela Care is seeking kind, reliable and genuinely caringmale and female Support Workers of all agesto join our growing team across the Sunshine Coast and Gympie regions.
We currently have a variety of opportunities available acrossSupported Independent Living (SIL), Short-Term Accommodation (STA), community access, in-home support, aged care and NDIS disability support.
Our roles vary significantly depending on the individual participant.
Some positions involve companionship, community access, household assistance and support with everyday activities.
Other positions involve personal care, mobility support or more complex physical, neurological, cognitive or behavioural needs.
You do not need complex care experience to apply for every role.
We welcome applicants from a range of backgrounds and will consider your experience, confidence, availability and personality when matching you with suitable participants.
Some positions are available to commence immediately, while others are being recruited for upcoming participant placements and new services beginning in the near future.
Interviews will be conducted immediately for both current and future opportunities, however not every successful applicant will commence immediately.

About the Roles
Community access and transport
Companionship and emotional support
Assistance with shopping, appointments and social activities
Household tasks and daily living support
Personal care and hygiene support
Medication assistance
Mobility support and transfers
Supporting participants within SIL and STA accommodation
Completing clear and accurate shift notes and documentation
Following individual support plans and workplace procedures
Some of our more complex positions may also involve:
PEG feeding and mealtime support
Hoisting and manual handling
Dementia or neurological support
Behaviour support plans
Authorised restrictive practice frameworks
Training may be provided where appropriate.
Previous experience in complex care, dementia, aged care, personal care, behaviour support or manual handling is highly regarded for positions where these skills are required.
The most important qualities across all of our roles are kindness, reliability, emotional maturity and a genuine passion for supporting others.

Evening shifts
Weekend shifts
Sleepover shifts
Split shifts
Regular ongoing rostered shifts and Casual and flexible opportunities
Some of our SIL roles require workers who can commit to ongoing structured rosters, as consistency and reliability are extremely significant for the participants we support.
There may also be opportunities to increase hours for reliable team members who are a good fit across multiple participants and services.
What We're Looking For
Male and female Support Workers
Kind, calm, reliable and professional people
Strong spoken and written English skills
Good English comprehension and the ability to follow instructions and support plans
The ability to complete clear and accurate shift documentation
Genuine and consistent availability
Confidence working independently and as part of a team
A respectful and person-centred approach
Certificate III or IV in Disability, Individual Support, Aged Care or a similar qualification preferred, but not essential we also welcome people who are looking for a change in career if they come with the right amount of care and compassion for the industry.

NDIS Worker Orientation Module
Relevant infection control training
Current driver's licence
Reliable and appropriately insured vehicle where required
Some positions may require particular qualifications, experience, physical capabilities or worker gender based on the individual needs and preferences of the participant.
Pay and Conditions
Paid under the SCHADS Award based on qualifications and experience
Applicable penalty rates for weekends, evenings, sleepovers and public holidays
Supportive management and ongoing training
A variety of shift lengths and roster options
