Arndell Anglican College is seeking an experienced and passionate educational leader to join our Secondary School as Head of Department - English, commencing Term ******.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a highly capable English educator to lead a dynamic faculty, influence whole-school academic improvement, and contribute significantly to the pastoral and spiritual life of a thriving Christian learning community.
About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Curriculum 7-12, the Head of Department-English is responsible for the strategic leadership of English across Years 7-12 and is a member of the Secondary School Academic Leadership Team (SALT).
The successful applicant will provide leadership and support to English staff, promoting a collaborative and high-performing faculty culture.
Additionally, the role will oversee curriculum development and implementation, drive teaching excellence, manage department budgets and resources, and champion innovative and evidence-informed practices that maximise student learning outcomes.
This role combines faculty leadership with a teaching load and offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on student achievement, staff development and curriculum innovation.

About You
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
A personal commitment to the Christian faith and active involvement in a reformed evangelical church.
A passion for Christian education and supporting the mission of the College.




Proven experience in curriculum leadership and teaching excellence within English.
Strong knowledge of current educational research, pedagogy and assessment practices.
Experience leading, mentoring and developing staff.
Exceptional communication, relationship-building and organisational skills.
Strategic thinking, initiative and a commitment to continuous improvement.
A demonstrated commitment to student wellbeing and holistic education.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Education.
NESA accreditation and eligibility to teach in NSW.
Experience in a faculty leadership or comparable leadership role.
Current NSW Working With Children Check.
Commitment to the Christian ethos and values of Arndell Anglican College.
