O'Brien Training is seeking experienced
High Risk Work Licence (HRWL) Trainers & Assessors
to support the delivery of specialised training in
boiler and steam turbine operations
across New South Wales.
This opportunity is well suited to industry professionals who bring strong operational experience and are looking to apply their expertise in a training environment - supporting the development of secure, capable operators in high-risk industries.

About the Role
You will deliver
practical and theory-based HRWL training and assessment
to licensed operators, ensuring all delivery aligns with current regulatory and industry requirements.
Training delivery may include:
Classroom-based sessions
Workshop environments
On-site delivery within operational industrial facilities
Key Responsibilities
Deliver HRWL training in boiler and steam turbine operations
Conduct competency-based assessments in line with licensing standards
Ensure compliance with WHS legislation and regulatory frameworks
Maintain high standards of training delivery and documentation
Support the development of safe, competent operators in high-risk environments
About You
Essential:
TAE***** (or equivalent)
Current HRWL in one or more of the following:
MSMBLIC001 – Standard Boiler
MSMBLIC002 – Advanced Boiler
UEPOPL004 – Steam Turbine
Demonstrated experience in industrial boiler and/or turbine operations
Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and quality training
Ability to work independently as a subcontractor (ABN required)
Note: Advanced Boiler licence satisfies Standard Boiler requirements.
Highly Regarded
UEE***** Certificate IV in Electrotechnology – Systems Electrician (or higher)
Experience working with electrical, mechanical, or control systems
Exposure to complex steam systems or continuous-process plants
Industry Experience
Mining and heavy industry
Power generation and cogeneration
Food and beverage manufacturing
Hospitals and critical infrastructure
Pulp and paper or chemical processing

Subcontractor arrangement (ABN required)
Work allocated based on licence coverage, demand, and availability
Opportunities available across NSW, QLD, WA, VIC and selected national sites
