St Carthage's Cathedral Parish in Lismore is a vibrant Catholic community.

We are seeking a reliable, organised, and caring Housekeeper (Presbytery) to maintain the presbytery and support the day-to‐day wellbeing of resident clergy.
This role combines housekeeping, laundry services, meal preparation and grocery shopping, making it ideal for someone who enjoys creating comfortable and welcoming living environments while providing high-quality support services.
About the role
In this hands‐on role, you'll be responsible for maintaining five residential units and shared living spaces within the presbytery, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, organisation and hospitality.
You will also prepare nutritious meals, manage laundry services, and undertake grocery and sustenance shopping to support the needs of resident and visiting clergy.
Additional cleaning duties will be required on occasions across other parish assets.
You will work independently while contributing to a positive and welcoming environment that reflects the values of the Parish.
Key responsibilities
Cleaning and maintaining residential units and shared areas including kitchens, dining rooms, lounges, bathrooms, hallways and stairwells
Undertaking routine and deep cleaning tasks, including vacuuming, mopping, dusting and sanitising surfaces
Maintaining a clean, hygienic and welcoming environment for clergy and visitors.
Providing full laundry services, including washing, drying, ironing and folding clothing and linen.
Managing linen changeovers and caring for sensitive garments and fabrics
Planning and preparing nutritious meals for resident clergy.
Maintaining food safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards within the kitchen




Undertaking grocery and household shopping for meals and general sustenance
Monitoring and maintaining housekeeping, laundry and kitchen supplies
What we're looking for
Essential
Experience in housekeeping, hospitality, cleaning, food preparation, aged care or a similar service-based environment.
Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities effectively
Understanding of workplace health and safety, manual handling and safe work practices
Knowledge of secure food handling, food preparation and kitchen hygiene requirements.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Understanding of WHS and safe manual handling practices.
Current NSW Driver's Licence.
Desirable
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification.
Safe Food Handling Certificate.
Previous experience in housekeeping, laundry and meal preparation roles
Experience working in community, aged care, residential or faith-based settings.
Understanding of the Catholic Church or other faith-based environments.
