Gami Carnegie is part of Australia's leading Korean fried chicken restaurant group, renowned for delivering authentic Korean flavours, exceptional customer service, and high-quality dining experiences.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Cook to join our kitchen team on a permanent full-time basis.
This is a hands-on cooking role in a fast-paced restaurant workplace.
You will work across Korean and Western menu items, contribute to a kitchen that takes its food seriously, and be part of a team that has been doing this well.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect incoming ingredients and foodstuffs before they reach the prep bench, ensuring nothing below standard makes it into a dish
Prepare and cook Korean and Western menu items to recipe specification across service, maintaining the consistency the kitchen is known for
Season dishes correctly throughout cooking, not just at the end, with a palate developed enough to know the difference
Manage oven, grill, and fryer temperatures actively during service, adjusting as needed rather than setting and forgetting
Plate and portion food to spec, adding sauces, garnishes, and accompaniments so every dish leaves the kitchen looking the way it should
Store food correctly in temperature-controlled facilities, maintaining food safety compliance and protecting ingredient quality between services

Prepare dishes to accommodate dietary requirements accurately and without cross-contamination, taking customer requests seriously
Assist with menu planning and food requirement estimates where directed, contributing practical kitchen knowledge to production decisions
Maintain food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards throughout every shift in line with Australian Food Safety requirements
Monitor stock levels, manage rotation, and flag gaps before they affect service
Receive and verify incoming deliveries against orders, checking quality and quantities on arrival
Bring junior kitchen staff and apprentices along where required, sharing knowledge without it slowing the kitchen down
Skill & Experience
Minimum two years of commercial cooking experience, with exposure to Korean cuisine a genuine advantage
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification, or demonstrated experience in lieu
Comfortable working at pace in a busy restaurant kitchen without the standard of your work slipping
Sound knowledge of food safety practices and the discipline to apply them consistently
Well organised and able to manage your prep and production time effectively across a shift
Available to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required
A reliable team player who communicates well and holds their own during a busy service
