We are seeking a passionate and motivated Japanese teacher to join our College community on a permanent, full-time basis commencing as soon as possible.
About The School:

Surrounded by beautiful native bushland, wildlife and contemporary learning spaces, St Columba's offers staff and students a tranquil setting for learning.
The College has a rich history and culture which promotes and supports the learning of Japanese language and engagement with Japanese culture. We have an active sister school arrangement with Hokusetsu Sanda Senior Highschool, in the Hyogo prefecture of Japan, which has been in place for over 30 years. The College sends two students to Japan every year for a six month exchange and we host students from Hokusetsu on a reciprocal basis. As a result, the learning of Japanese language is highly valued in the College community and a number of students choose St Columba's because of the opportunities to learn Japanese.
Historically, we have run Japanese Elective Classes in Years 9 and 10, and through to the Higher School Certificate and this has continued this year. The teaching staff, who are members of the Japanese faculty, are highly experienced and bring great expertise to the College. This position would allow a passionate teacher of Japanese to join a thriving and flourishing faculty where they will be supported and able to thrive in their professional life.
Key Responsibilities
Have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the teaching of Japanese to secondary students
Experience in teaching Stage 6 Japanese Continuers




Understanding how to differentiate learning to cater for student needs to maximise student learning.
Sound understanding of the learning environments, lesson plans, use of technology, teaching practices and delivery of assessment and learning feedback.
Able to motivate students to achieve and to develop a life-long love of learning.

Qualifications and Experience
Eligibility according to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)
Tertiary Qualification (minimum 4-year degree, or 75% complete)
Valid Working with Children Check (for employment purposes)
