Capella Sydney Summary Capella Sydney is seeking experienced and detail-oriented Head Housekeepers to lead and coordinate the Housekeeping Department. This role is suited to a hospitality qualified with strong leadership capabilities and demonstrated experience managing housekeeping operations within a luxury hotel environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining exceptional cleanliness standards, leading a high-performing team, and ensuring a seamless guest experience in line with Forbes and Capella standards.

Reporting to the Hotel Manager and Assistant Director of Housekeeping, the Head Housekeeper is responsible for the daily supervision and coordination of Housekeeping operations, ensuring guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, linen, uniforms, and laundry services are maintained to the highest luxury hospitality standards.
The role requires strong operational leadership, team management, quality assurance,
and cross-departmental collaboration to deliver exceptional guest satisfaction and operational excellence.

Task & responsibilities
As Head Housekeeper , you will supervise and coordinate the Housekeeping team, including Supervisors, Room Attendants, Public Area Attendants, Laundry and Uniform Attendants, Runners, and Coordinators.
You will determine daily work requirements, allocate duties, maintain attendance records and rosters, and ensure staffing levels support operational requirements.
You will oversee the cleanliness and presentation of guest rooms, suites, public areas, and back-of-house facilities, ensuring compliance with Capella, Forbes, and luxury hospitality standards.
This includes conducting inspections, ensuring VIP room readiness, and implementing continuous improvements to operational efficiency and guest satisfaction.
You will work closely with Front Office, Engineering, Security, and other departments to coordinate room readiness, maintenance requirements, and guest service delivery, ensuring seamless hotel operations and exceptional guest experiences.
You will manage departmental inventories, including linen, uniforms, guest supplies, and cleaning materials, while monitoring stock levels, controlling costs, and supporting departmental budget objectives.
You will lead, coach, train, and develop the Housekeeping team, supporting recruitment, performance management, staff engagement,
and the resolution of workplace issues and employee concerns.
You will explain and enforce workplace health and safety procedures, ensuring compliance with hotel policies, safety regulations, and legislative requirements.
You will respond to guest feedback and complaints professionally, while continually reviewing housekeeping operations and recommending improvements to service standards, processes, equipment, and productivity.
Qualification & experience
Relevant qualification: Certificate IV, Diploma or Degree in Hospitality, Hotel Management, or related field
1–3 years' experience in housekeeping supervision or management, subject to the applicants' actual years of relevant experience.
Proven experience leading housekeeping operations within a luxury hotel, resort, or premium hospitality environment
Strong knowledge of housekeeping procedures, room operations, laundry, linen management, and quality assurance standards
Demonstrated experience in workforce planning, rostering, attendance management, and labour optimisation
Strong leadership, coaching, and people management skills
Experience managing guest complaints and delivering service recovery solutions
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
Competent computer skills, including Microsoft Office and hotel property management systems such as OPERA
Understanding of Workplace Health and Security requirements and compliance obligations
Full Australian working rights
Luxury hotel experience is highly desirable
