Strategic Multi-Cloud Mandate:
Join a forward-thinking Cloud Platforms Section within our Federal Government client to hands-on design, build, deploy, and operate critical cloud and AI infrastructure.
Automation-First Philosophy:
Play a vital role in the department's large-scale transition from an Azure-only platform into an advanced multi-cloud environment spanning Microsoft Azure and AWS. You will champion an engineering model focused heavily on Infrastructure as Code (IaC), reusable automation patterns, and robust DevOps pipelines.
Blended Collaborative Squads:
Deliver high-quality work across both cutting-edge project delivery and operational sustainment as part of a high-performing team composed of public sector personnel and industry-leading vendors.
What's on Offer
Contract/Engagement:
Initial 36-month contract + potential extension options.
Location & Flexibility:
Canberra, ACT (Hybrid flexibility available).
Role & Responsibilities
Multi-Cloud Infrastructure Engineering:
Design and implement highly secure and reliable cloud infrastructure across both Azure and AWS platforms leveraging modern IaC methodologies.
CI/CD Pipeline Management:
Develop and maintain optimized CI/CD pipelines (utilizing Azure DevOps YAML) to drive seamless, automated software and infrastructure deployments.
Reusable Automation Design:
Build out reusable automation scripts and patterns for key platform services, including hybrid networking setup, firewall configurations, and workplace tailoring.
Identity & Governance Integration:
Integrate deployed cloud services natively with the department's core identity, networking, and governance controls (such as Entra ID, IAM, and hybrid connectivity hubs).
Workload Optimization & Support:
Actively support, troubleshoot, and optimize mission-critical workloads spanning dev environments through to production, leading root-cause analyses to remediate complex platform issues.
Collaborative Version Control:
Champion Git-based source control management and collaborative technical development best practices across the engineering squad.
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this position, you will ideally bring:
Technical Toolkit:
Proven capability delivering production-grade cloud solutions across both Microsoft Azure and AWS ecosystems.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
Deep technical familiarity with declarative configuration tools such as Bicep, ARM templates, CloudFormation, or equivalent infrastructure languages.
DevOps & Scripting Pipelines:
Solid experience with Azure DevOps, Git-based workflows, and strong scripting automation using PowerShell and CLI-based tools.
End-to-End Delivery:
Robust capability integrating across complex networking, identity, and platform layers, with the professional maturity to guide a solution from initial design through to build, deployment, and live operational support.
Capabilities Alignment:
Indicative alignment with SFIA Level 5 (ITOP, SINT) and Level 4 to 5 (PROG).
Desirable Assets:
Relevant Azure or AWS technical certifications; practical experience navigating hybrid networking topologies, secure cloud governance models, or secure, DevOps-focused federal delivery environments.
Eligibility & Clearance Requirements
Security Clearance:
Due to the secure nature of this federal environment, candidates
must hold a current NV1 security clearance
, with an NV2 clearance highly preferred.
