The Opportunity
As a Behaviour Support Practitioner, you will work alongside people living with disability, their families, carers and support networks in the community to improve quality of life through evidence-based Positive Behaviour Support.
Using a trauma-informed, person-centred and strengths-based approach, you will seek to understand the function of behaviours of concern, identify the unmet needs that may be driving those behaviours, and develop practical strategies that increase safety, independence, emotional regulation and participation in everyday life.
You will be committed to tailoring interventions to each individual's goals, strengths and environment, helping them build skills to create sustainable, positive change and prevent re-engagement in behaviours of concern.
You will provide trauma informed, person-centred, evidence-based interventions and support for people experiencing moderate to severe mental health presentations including: acute and chronic psychotic disorders; schizophrenia; bipolar; generalised anxiety; depression; PTSD; alcohol and drug use disorders; mixed anxiety and depression; dissociative (conversion) disorder; sleep problems and OCD.

Support the reduction and elimination of regulated restrictive practices wherever possible, while ensuring participant safety and dignity
Prepare high-quality clinical reports, assessments and recommendations
Provide education, coaching and capacity building to participants and their support teams, families, schools, providers and other allied health professionals
Success in this role will come from combining strong clinical reasoning with genuine empathy. You will be someone that enjoys building relationships, thinking critically about behaviour, and empowering people to achieve greater independence, wellbeing and quality of life.
