About the Role
NEPEAN Finance provides technical expertise to the NEPEAN businesses across our global portfolio. We are seeking an experienced
Assistant Accountant
to play a critical role in supporting operational and strategic decision-making. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the Finance team to complete monthly and annual accounting processes, statutory reporting requirements and ensuring all internal and external deadlines are met. This role will also provide valuable support across key finance functions including Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable.

Key Responsibilities
Prepare and deliver accurate monthly management accounts, financial reports, and variance analysis.
Execute month-end close processes, including general ledger and statistical journals, reconciliations, intercompany transactions, WIP, margin analysis, and Tax/GST compliance across multiple entities.
Collaborate with project managers to review budgets, analyse cost-to-complete forecasts, track variations,



and support improvements in project profitability.
Monitor labour recovery, material utilisation, and subcontractor expenditure to strengthen cost control and operational efficiency
Support the preparation of annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and detailed variance analysis for projects and operational activities.
Coordinate cash flow forecasting, ensuring appropriate liquidity management and optimisation of working capital.
Identify opportunities for process and system improvements to enhance financial controls, reporting accuracy, and data integrity.
Assist with statutory reporting, external audit requirements, and other compliance obligations.
About You
You are an emerging finance professional with a solid grounding in accounting
principles and a commitment to delivering accurate and timely financial information.
You enjoy working collaboratively across finance and operational teams, using your analytical skills to support decision-making and improve financial outcomes.
You thrive in a dynamic environment, are keen to expand your technical expertise, and take pride in maintaining strong attention to detail.
You're proactive, eager to learn, and confident engaging with stakeholders at all levels to provide clear insights and support continuous improvement.
Skills & Experience
Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline (working towards CA/CPA qualification desirable)




1–3 years' experience in an accounting or finance support role, ideally within a manufacturing, engineering, or FMCG environment
Strong understanding of general ledger functions, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end processes
Experience assisting with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
Working knowledge of WIP accounting, revenue recognition, and cost reporting (desirable)
Strong Excel skills and experience using ERP systems (D365 experience highly regarded)
Ability to analyse financial data, identify discrepancies, and support process improvements
Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
High attention to detail, solid organisational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
