To realise this vision, Mater has created a new executive leadership role dedicated to transforming how its strategic assets are leveraged to enable long-term growth.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Group Chief Executive Officer and joining the Executive Leadership Team, the Chief Commercial Officer (Strategic Assets, Growth & Property) will establish a recent commercial capability that brings together strategic assets, property, infrastructure, partnerships and enterprise growth.
You'll develop and execute a whole-of-portfolio growth strategy across one of Queensland's largest healthcare property portfolios, identifying where Mater can invest, partner, redevelop and innovate to expand healthcare services and strengthen long-term sustainability.
Working across an ambitious pipeline of brownfield developments, major healthcare precincts and landholdings, you'll identify commercial opportunities, structure innovative partnerships and unlock new sources of capital that accelerate projects which traditional funding models alone cannot deliver.
You'll lead enterprise-wide master planning,
oversee major strategic developments and create commercial frameworks that maximise the long-term value of Mater's assets while supporting its mission to improve health outcomes across Queensland.

Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute Mater's long-term strategic asset and infrastructure strategy aligned to enterprise growth priorities
Lead major capital developments, master planning initiatives and infrastructure investment across the organisation
Drive geographic expansion, new market opportunities and service growth through strategic property and commercial initiatives
Lead Mater's commercial property portfolio, including acquisitions, developments, partnerships, leasing and portfolio optimisation
Identify and negotiate complex commercial partnerships with developers, investors, government and industry stakeholders
Deliver robust commercial outcomes through investment frameworks, financial modelling and disciplined capital allocation
Build strong executive relationships across government, private sector partners, clinicians and investors to unlock future opportunities
Embed sustainability and ESG principles across asset planning, development and investment decisions
Lead and evolve a high-performing commercial, development and property function with a strong focus on capability, agility and innovation.
Provide strategic advice to the CEO and Board on growth opportunities, investment priorities and long-term enterprise value creation
About You
You are a commercially astute executive who combines strategic thinking with a proven ability to deliver large-scale infrastructure, development and growth outcomes.
You are equally comfortable negotiating complex commercial transactions, leading major investment decisions and influencing executive and Board stakeholders. You bring a private-sector commercial mindset together with an appreciation for purpose-driven organisations, and you think beyond individual developments and understand how an entire property portfolio can become a strategic platform for organisational growth.
Additionally, you will bring:
Extensive executive leadership experience across strategic assets, infrastructure, commercial property, healthcare development or related industries
Demonstrated success leading large-scale growth, expansion and capital investment strategies within complex organisations
Strong commercial acumen with expertise in investment analysis, property development, partnerships and portfolio optimisation
Proven ability to negotiate and structure complex commercial transactions and strategic alliances
Outstanding stakeholder management skills with experience working across Boards, executive teams, government and external partners
A strategic, innovative and future-focused approach, balanced by strong execution capability and commercial discipline
Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to build high-performing teams and drive organisational transformation
High levels of integrity, sound judgement and alignment with Mater's Mission and Values
Postgraduate qualifications in business, finance, property, health administration or a related discipline are highly regarded, together with experience within healthcare infrastructure, property investment or large-scale development environments.
