Due to the business growth and expansion plans, USVD is now looking to recruit Welder(s) in their Operations team on a permanent full-time basis. Operations Head / Supervisor Annual Salary: AUD $80,000 - $85,000 base + Super (for a 38-hour work week) Role purpose: We are seeking an experienced Welder or may be two to join our operations team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating, joining, and repairing metal components and structures using a range of welding techniques, working from technical drawings and specifications to produce high-quality, structurally sound welds in accordance with the relevant Australian standards.
Main Duties / Responsibilities: As a Welder, your duties includes:
Ensuring all work is carried out in compliance with WHS regulations and relevant Australian Standards.
Cutting, bending, shaping, joining and repairing metal components of iron and steel structures, boilers, pressure vessels and pipes.
Studying blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job requirements.
Selecting, cleaning and preparing metal stock.
Cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines.
Shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools and by heating and hammering.
Aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments.
Joining metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting and riveting.
Examining welds for width of bead, penetration and precision.
Finishing products by cleaning, polishing, filing and bathing in acidic solutions.
Cleaning and smoothing welds by filing, chiselling and grinding.
Selecting and applying appropriate welding processes (manual metal arc, gas metal arc, advanced welding techniques) based on material and job specifications.
Assembling fabricated components in line with technical drawings.
Applying secure welding practices and maintaining accurate weld records.
Operating fixed and mobile load-shifting equipment at workshop as required.
Working safely and effectively within manufacturing and engineering environments, complying with WHS and environmental sustainability requirements.
Performing engineering measurements, inspections and quality checks on completed welds and fabricated items.
Ordering materials and planning work activities to meet production schedules.
Organising and communicating information with supervisors and team members.
Using hand tools, power tools and computing technology relevant to fabrication and welding tasks.
Qualification & experience:
Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade – Welder (First class) preferred.
At least 5 years of proven work experience in the above job role.
Sound welding experience in manual / advanced metal arc welding & Gas metal arc welding process.
Well experienced of WHS requirements, particularly in manufacturing and steel fabrication environment.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, manuals, and specifications.
