Lead from the Front on a Major Regional Infrastructure Project
We are seeking an experienced Civil Leading Hand to join a major water infrastructure project near Wanganella, NSW.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll work alongside the crew, coordinating daily construction activities while operating plant and supporting civil works as required. If you're someone who enjoys leading by example and isn't afraid to jump on the tools or into the excavator, we'd like to hear from you.
About the Role
Reporting to the Site Supervisor, you'll be responsible for coordinating a small crew while assisting with the safe and efficient delivery of civil construction activities.
Your duties will include:
Leading and mentoring a small civil construction crew
Planning daily work activities in conjunction with site supervision
Operating excavators for trenching, drainage, bulk earthworks and final trim
Performing dogging duties to support lifting operations
Coordinating plant, personnel and subcontractors
Assisting with pipe laying, drainage and underground service installation
Reading construction drawings and working to project specifications
Conducting daily pre-starts and promoting a strong safety culture
Spotting underground services and heavy mobile plant
Assisting with concrete, formwork and general civil construction activities
Maintaining quality workmanship and project productivity
What We're Looking For
To be successful, you will ideally possess:




Demonstrated experience as a Civil Leading Hand or Senior Civil Operator
Current Excavator Ticket / VOC
Current Dogman (DG) High Risk Work Licence
Construction White Card
Current Driver Licence
Proven experience on civil infrastructure projects
Solid leadership and communication skills
Ability to read construction drawings and work independently
Commitment to workplace safety and quality outcomes
Highly Regarded

Loader Ticket
Skid Steer Ticket
Articulated Dump Truck (ADT/Moxy)
HR or HC Truck Licence
Basic or Intermediate Rigging
Working at Heights
Confined Space
Traffic Control
First Aid Certificate
Experience on water infrastructure, pipeline or major civil construction projects
