About the role
We're seeking an experiencedSenior Payroll Officerto deliver accurate, compliant, and high-quality payroll services while providing specialist payroll expertise across the organisation.
Based at Newstead, this is a maximum-term contracts (12 months).
As a subject matter expert, you will manage complex payroll matters, champion compliance, support continuous improvement initiatives, and mentor team members to ensure service excellence.
Salary range: $93,103 - $102,572 per annum plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900+ access to many staff benefits!
What you'll be doing
Manage end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Interpret and apply awards, EBAs, legislation, taxation, and employment conditions.
Resolve complex payroll issues and act as an escalation point for enquiries.
Conduct audits, reconciliations, and data integrity checks.
Partner with Finance, HR Systems, and Rostering teams to improve payroll processes.
Monitor legislative changes and implement required process and system updates.
Coach and mentor Payroll Officers and contribute to team capability development.
Lead and support payroll improvement projects, system upgrades, and change initiatives.
About you
Extensive experience in end-to-end payroll processing within a complex workplace.
Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, awards, EBAs, taxation, and compliance requirements.
Demonstrated experience resolving complex payroll issues and driving process improvements.
Strong stakeholder engagement and coaching skills.
Experience using Aurion, Kronos, and payroll reconciliation tools.
A collaborative approach with a strong focus on accuracy, customer service,



and continuous improvement.
