Financial Counsellor - Domestic & Family Violence (part-time available)
Macarthur Legal Centre (MLC) is a not-for-profit community legal centre committed to providing a safe and equal community where people know their rights and are supported to use them.
We provide free legal, tenancy, and domestic and family violence support to people in our community.
Through our financial counselling program, we stand alongside women experiencing domestic and family violence tominimise financial abuse and restore their financial safety.
The Domestic & Family Violence Financial Counsellor supports the delivery ofhigh-quality, client-centred financial counselling services to women experiencing domestic and/or family violencein the Macarthur and Western Sydney regions.
Reporting to the Senior DFV Financial Counsellor, the Financial Counsellor will support the expansion of our services in providing financial counselling, casework and advocacy support while managing your own caseload and working closely with MLC's support services to deliver holistic outcomes for clients.
A part-time or job-share arrangement will be considered for suitable candidates (2, 3 or 4 days per week).

Key responsibilities
Provide financial counselling, advocacy and casework support to clients affected by domestic and family violence.
Deliver client-centred, trauma-informed and culturally safe support.
Manage your own caseload and support clients to improve their financial safety and wellbeing.
Work collaboratively with MLC's legal and support services to deliver holistic, wrap-around assistance.
Develop and maintain effective referral pathways and partnerships with community services.
Maintain accurate client records, data collection and reporting in line with funding requirements.
Represent MLC within local networks and contribute to community engagement, advocacy and service promotion.
Participate in professional development,



team meetings and organisational activities.
About You
We are looking for a motivated and compassionate professional who is committed to social justice and equity.
You will have:
A Diploma of Financial Counselling (or equivalent) and eligibility for membership with a recognised financial counselling association
Experience providing financial counselling to people experiencing disadvantage
Strong knowledge of debt, credit, fines, income support systems, and financial abuse
Demonstrated ability to work in a trauma-informed, client-centred manner
Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex information clearly
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a diverse caseload independently
A current NSW Driver's Licence and willingness to travel for occasional outreach
Holds (or is willing to obtain) a Working With Children Check and Police Check
Experience working in a community legal centre, working with First Nations communities, or knowledge of domestic and family violence systems is highly desirable.
