WorkPac Health & Social Care is seeking a passionate and experienced Nurse Practitioner for a 3 month contract with projection to extend or go permanent in correctional health in the Wacol area.
This is a rare opportunity to step into an autonomous advanced practice role delivering comprehensive primary health care and complex case management in a secure, well-supported custodial setting, with a competitive salary package, retention bonus, and the prospect to undertake telehealth shifts once established and confident in the role.
About Our Client
Our client is seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner to join the clinical team within the Wacol correctional precinct in Brisbane’s south-west. The site comprises multiple large, purpose-built correctional facilities, delivering healthcare to individuals in custody across a range of security classifications, and is recognised for its integrated prison health service and focus on protected, evidence-based care.
What you will be doing
Provide advanced, autonomous clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation for people in custody.
Prescribe medications, initiate therapeutic interventions and order pathology and radiology investigations.
Manage acute presentations, injury management, chronic disease, communicable disease,
co‑morbidities and mental health concerns.
Lead timely escalation and referrals to internal and external clinical services when required.
Coordinate care across the continuum, ensuring follow up, continuity and protected handover.
What you will need
Current AHPRA registration as a RegisteredNursewith endorsement as aNursePractitioner.
Master’s levelNursePractitioner qualification or equivalent.
Credentialed scope ofpractice approved by Queensland Health.
Ability to meet all correctional security and clearance requirements.
Up to date immunisations as required by QHealth.
