DeadlyScience is seeking a Full-Time Grant and Proposal Writer to join our Partnerships & Growth Team on a 12 month contract.
Reporting to the Senior Philanthropy Manager , this position is responsible for developing compelling, high-quality grant applications, funding proposals and submissions that support DeadlyScience's strategic priorities and funding objectives.
Through strong writing, research and proposal development skills, the role prepares persuasive, evidence-based applications for corporate, philanthropic, government, trusts, foundations and other funding opportunities.
Working with a high degree of autonomy, the Grants & Proposal Writer manages allocated funding opportunities through the end-to-end lifecycle, from application development and submission through to reporting and acquittal requirements.
The role works closely with the Senior Philanthropy Manager to support the development of high-quality funding submissions, working collaboratively to gather information, articulate program impact, and ensure submissions are accurate, aligned, and delivered to a high standard.
This position is for a preferred immediate start and is advertised as remote,with the option to work from our Port Macquarie office.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Grant and Proposal Development
Research, prepare and develop high-quality grant applications, funding proposals and submissions for corporate, philanthropic, government, trusts, foundations and other funding opportunities.
Translate DeadlyScience programs, outcomes and impact into compelling, evidence-based funding narratives tailored to the requirements and priorities of each funder.
Develop explicit,



persuasive and well-structured applications that communicate the organisation's purpose, impact, need and funding requirements.
Review and refine grant applications to ensure accuracy, consistency, alignment with funding guidelines and a high standard of written quality.
Manage application timelines, submission requirements and supporting documentation to ensure funding opportunities are delivered on time.
Grant Management and Reporting
Manage the end-to-end grant lifecycle, including application development, submission, grant administration, reporting and acquittal requirements.
Support the relationship manager with relevant information in order to meet milestones and inform renewal discussions.
Maintain accurate records in Salesforce of all funding opportunities, submissions, grants, outcomes, reporting deadlines and funding commitments.
Prepare progress reports, acquittals and other funding updates that clearly demonstrate outcomes, impact and responsible stewardship of funding.
Support the effective management of grant obligations and ensure compliance with funder requirements.
Funding Prospect Identification
Where required, monitor and research relevant funding opportunities aligned with DeadlyScience's programs, morals and strategic priorities.
Assess funding opportunities and provide recommendations on suitability, alignment and application requirements.
Maintain awareness of relevant funding trends, sector developments and emerging opportunities.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Work collaboratively with internal teams and stakeholders to gather program information, impact data, stories and supporting evidence for funding applications and reports.
Build effective working relationships across the organisation to support timely and accurate grant development and reporting.
Engage with relevant stakeholders to ensure applications and reports accurately reflect DeadlyScience's programs, outcomes and impact.
Continuous Improvement and Quality Assurance
Share knowledge that contributes to improving processes, templates, systems and approaches to strengthen funding outcomes.
Maintain current knowledge of grant writing practices,



funding requirements and sector expectations.
Ensure all written materials reflect DeadlyScience's values, voice and commitment to creating meaningful impact.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Education
Tertiary qualification in communications, writing, business, community development, social sciences or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience in grant writing and funding development.
Experience
Demonstrated experience developing high-quality grant applications, proposals and submissions for government, non-government organisations, trusts, foundations or philanthropic funders.
IT
Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook, with confidence managing documents, data and reporting requirements.
Experience using databases, grant management systems, CRM platforms or project management tools would be desirable.
Compliance
Current NSW Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain).
National Police Check within the last 12 months.
Ability to safely undertake manual handling within role requirements.
Willingness to complete AIATSIS Core Cultural training.
Demonstrated understanding of the not-for-profit, philanthropic, education or community sectors.
Experience working with trusts, foundations or philanthropic organisations.
Strong ability to understand complex information and translate it into clear, compelling and persuasive written content.
Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to produce accurate, high-quality written materials.
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple funding opportunities, competing priorities and deadlines.
Ability to work independently, take initiative and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
A genuine alignment with DeadlyScience's vision, values and commitment to creating equitable access to STEM education and resources.
Understanding of the importance of culturally appropriate engagement and working respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Experience working with, supporting or contributing to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led organisations, communities or initiatives is highly regarded.
