The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily warehouse operations, with a strong focus on ensuring the smooth and efficient handling of incoming and outgoing stock, managing inventory control, and driving continuous process improvements. This role emphasises strategic leadership, team management, and operational oversight to ensure the warehouse operates at optimal efficiency. The Warehouse Manager will work closely with other departments to support business goals and deliver excellent service to both internal and external customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management
Oversee and manage a team of up to 5 warehouse staff, providing direction, mentorship, and performance management.
Develop and maintain a strong team culture, focusing on collaboration, accountability, and ongoing training.
Ensure tasks such as picking, packing, unloading, and dispatch are effectively delegated and completed on time.
Operational Oversight
Manage daily warehouse operations, ensuring efficient processes for receiving, storing, picking, packing, and shipping of bulky goods.
Coordinate the scheduling, preparation, and unloading of containers, ensuring inventory is processed quickly and accurately.
Oversee the dispatch of orders, ensuring timely and accurate shipments to meet customer delivery expectations.
Inventory Management
Implement and maintain robust stock control procedures, ensuring accurate tracking of inventory levels through regular stocktakes and cycle counts.
Develop strategies to optimize warehouse space and streamline stock handling, particularly for large and bulky furniture items.
Address and resolve any discrepancies in stock levels,
working to maintain a high level of inventory accuracy.
Safety, Security & Compliance
Ensure full compliance with workplace health and safety regulations, creating and enforcing safety policies specific to bulky goods handling.
Conduct regular safety audits, training, and drills to ensure staff understand and adhere to all safety protocols.
Develop and enforce security measures to protect stock, staff, and warehouse equipment.
Logistics & Vendor Coordination
Collaborate with suppliers, transport companies, and internal teams to coordinate deliveries and shipments, optimising scheduling to meet operational needs.
Oversee reverse logistics, including the return and restocking of goods from customers, ensuring smooth processing and documentation.
Continuous Improvement & Reporting
Evaluate warehouse processes regularly, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements, cost reduction, and improved service delivery.
Report on key warehouse metrics, including stock levels, staff performance, and safety compliance, providing insights to senior management.
Implement warehouse technology and process enhancements to reduce manual workloads and improve overall operations.
Key Qualifications:
Experience:
Proven experience in warehouse management within a bulky goods or furniture environment, with a focus on strategic operations and team leadership.
Strong knowledge of warehouse systems, inventory control, and logistics management.
Skills & Abilities:
Leadership and team development skills, with the ability to inspire and manage a high-performing team.
Strong organisational and multitasking skills, able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a rapid-paced environment.
Analytical mindset with the ability to identify process improvements and drive operational efficiencies.
