Broker Associate
to join our team. This is a career development opportunity for someone currently working in a mortgage support, lending, loan administration, banking, financial services or customer support role who wants to build a long-term career as a specialist broker.
About the Role
The Broker Associate role is designed as a structured pathway into becoming a reverse mortgage broker with Seniors First.
Over the first 12 to 24 months, you will gain hands‐on experience across the core functions of the business, including:
The phone and client enquiry team
Broker support and loan administration
Client and lender follow‐up
Reverse mortgage application support
Working directly with our specialist brokers
You will learn how reverse mortgages work, how customers are assessed, how lenders process applications, and how to support older Australians through a careful, compliant and education‐led lending process.
This is not a traditional sales support role. It is a genuine career progression chance for someone who wants to become a skilled broker over time.
Key Responsibilities
Client Enquiry and Phone Team Support
You will help support incoming enquiries from prospective customers, many of whom are at the early stage of exploring a reverse mortgage.
This may include:
Speaking with older homeowners and their families in a warm, skilled and respectful manner
Helping clients understand the next steps in the process
Gathering basic information from customers
Booking appointments with brokers
Following up with customers who have requested information
Helping maintain accurate notes and records in our CRM
Providing a calm and helpful first point of contact for people who may feel unsure or overwhelmed
Broker Support and Loan Administration
You will work with our broker support officers and loan administration team to understand the operational side of the business.
This may include:
Assisting with loan application preparation
Helping collect and check supporting documents
Liaising with clients to obtain missing information
Updating file notes and application records
Supporting compliance and responsible lending documentation
Tracking application progress from enquiry through to settlement
Helping ensure files are complete, accurate and well organised
Assisting with lender submission and post‐submission follow‐up
Broker and Lender Follow‐Up
You will support our specialist reverse mortgage brokers with client and lender follow‐up throughout the loan journey.
This may include:
Following up with lenders on application status
Updating clients on progress and next steps
Helping brokers prepare for client meetings
Assisting with information requests from lenders
Coordinating communication between clients, brokers, lenders and support staff
Helping ensure customers receive timely and professional service
Identifying issues early and escalating them appropriately
Learning and Development
As part of the role, you will be expected to actively build your knowledge and capability in mortgage broking, reverse mortgages and later‐life lending.
This will include:
Learning reverse mortgage product features, lender policies and eligibility rules
Understanding responsible lending obligations and compliance requirements
Developing strong client communication skills
Learning how brokers assess customer needs and recommend suitable loan structures
Observing broker meetings and client conversations where appropriate
Participating in training, coaching and performance reviews
Working towards the skills, knowledge and accreditation required to become a broker
Career Pathway
The intended pathway for this role is progression into a
Reverse Mortgage Broker
position within approximately
12 to 24 months
, depending on performance, capability, training progress and business needs.
This pathway may include:
Initial training across phone support, loan administration and broker support
Increased responsibility for client and lender follow‐up
Deeper involvement in application structuring and client scenarios
Broker shadowing and mentoring
Completion of relevant industry training and accreditation requirements
Transition into a broker role when ready

About You
You may already be working as a:
Loan processor
Mortgage broker assistant
Client services officer
Lending support officer
Banking or finance customer service representative
Loan administration officer
Financial services support specialist
Sales support or operations assistant in a lending environment
You do not need to already be a broker, but you should have a genuine interest in becoming one.
Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will ideally have:
Experience in mortgages, lending, banking, financial services or customer support
Strong attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A professional and empathetic phone manner
Good organisational skills and the ability to manage follow‐up tasks
Confidence working with CRMs, loan systems, email and digital documents
The ability to follow processes carefully
A willingness to learn lending policy, compliance and product detail
A customer‐first mindset
Patience and respect when dealing with older customers
The ability to work well with brokers, support teams and management
Experience in mortgage broking support or loan processing will be highly regarded, but attitude, professionalism and willingness to learn are just as important.
