Retail Supervisor and Full Time Optical Assistant
. This is a full-time position based in the Western Suburbs Sydney NSW, offering an exciting opportunity to develop your career in the retail and optical services sector. In this role, you will play a vital part in delivering exceptional customer service whilst supporting the smooth operation of our busy retail environment. You will be instrumental in ensuring our store maintains high standards of service, product knowledge, and team performance, directly contributing to the success and profitability of the Specsavers Merrylands location.
Key responsibilities
Providing outstanding customer service to all visitors, assisting with product selection and purchases across our optical and retail ranges
Supporting the optical dispensing process, including frame fitting, lens selection guidance, and ensuring accurate order fulfilment
Supervising and mentoring retail staff, ensuring consistent adherence to company policies, procedures, and service standards
Managing stock levels, conducting regular inventory checks, and maintaining a well-organised and visually appealing retail display
Processing transactions accurately using point-of-sale systems and handling cash and card payments responsibly
Assisting with staff scheduling, training new team members, and fostering a positive working environment
Promoting Specsavers products and services, including eye care packages and promotional offers, to maximise sales opportunities
Maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations and company standards




Supporting the store manager in achieving sales targets and operational objectives
What we're looking for
Previous retail experience, ideally in an optical or customer-facing retail environment
Strong supervisory or team leadership experience demonstrating your ability to motivate and manage staff effectively
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with customers and colleagues
Sound product knowledge of eyewear, frames, lenses, and optical services, or the willingness to develop this knowledge
Proficiency with point-of-sale systems and retail management software
Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and public holidays as required
Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks
A passion for delivering exceptional customer service and a commitment to achieving sales targets
Problem-solving abilities and a professional, can-do attitude
Preferably, relevant qualifications such as optical dispensing certification or retail management training would be advantageous
