We are seeking an experienced and dependable Chef or Catering Manager to establish and lead the food service operation at a workforce accommodation facility in Wellington, NSW.
The facility is expected to accommodate approximately 10 long-term residents working on major infrastructure and renewable energy projects in the region.
This is not a restaurant or à la carte environment.
The operation will provide a structured daily meal service consisting of cooked breakfast, takeaway crib lunch and dinner, with predictable resident numbers and a rotating set menu.
The role offers a high level of autonomy and the chance to help establish the catering systems, menus and operating procedures from commencement.
Onsite accommodation may be available for a suitable candidate and can be discussed as part of the overall employment package.
Candidates already based in Wellington, Dubbo, Orange or surrounding areas are also encouraged to apply.

You will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the catering operation, including:Preparing and coordinating breakfast,



crib lunch and dinnerDeveloping practical, nutritious and varied rotating menusOrdering food and managing supplier relationshipsMonitoring food costs, portion sizes and wastageMaintaining food-safety, temperature and cleaning recordsManaging stock levels and kitchen suppliesAccommodating reasonable dietary and allergy requirementsMaintaining a clean, organised and compliant kitchenAssisting with the recruitment and training of catering support staffCoordinating with relief staff to maintain seven-day service coverageProviding regular operational and cost reporting to management The successful candidate will be supported by additional catering or kitchen assistance.
The role is not intended to require one person to personally work every meal service, seven days per week.
We are looking for someone who is reliable, practical and comfortable taking ownership of a small catering operation.You will ideally have:Previous experience as a chef, cook,



catering manager or camp chefExperience managing a kitchen or catering operationStrong menu-planning and food-cost management skillsA sound understanding of food safety and kitchen complianceThe ability to work independently and solve problemsGood communication and organisational skillsA current Food Safety Supervisor certificate, or willingness to obtain oneRelevant commercial cookery qualificationsAustralian working rightsA current driver licenceExperience in remote-site, mining, workforce accommodation, motel, institutional or aged-care catering would be highly regarded but is not essential.
The proposed package includes:Salary of approximately $100,000–$120,000 plus superannuation, depending on experienceStable and predictable resident numbersSupport and relief staffingInput into kitchen setup, menu design and operational systemsPotential onsite accommodation for a suitable candidate, subject to availability and agreementPotential assistance with relocation for the right candidate Any accommodation arrangement would be discussed separately and would depend on the candidate's circumstances and the operational requirements of the facility.We are also open to hearing from chef-and-partner teams where the second person may be interested in catering assistance, housekeeping or accommodation support work.
The role is based in Wellington, approximately:50 minutes from Dubbo1 hour from Orange4.5 hours from SydneyWellington is experiencing significant activity associated with renewable energy, transmission and infrastructure development across the Central West-Orana region.
