Moogahlin Performing Arts is a leading and internationally-recognised First Peoples company. Our key platforms are:
Creative development, presentation and touring
Regional programming, including Baiame's Ngunnhu Festival
International
First Peoples engagement and collaboration
First Peoples workforce development in the performing arts sector.
We are co-located on Gadigal Land in Redfern/Eveleigh at Carriageworks, and on Ngemba Country, Brewarrina. Yellamundie Festival is a biennial creative development program for First Peoples works for the stage, providing a paid two-week residency, working with expert directors, dramaturgs, producers and performance, and with a work-in-progress showcase to the public, at Carriageworks.
Since its inception in ****, the Festival has supported 45 National First Peoples and 5 International First Nations works, across playwriting, choreography and composition.
Of these, 19 National and 5 International have gone on to full production in theatres around Australia and overseas, including The Visitors, Healing Scars, The Last Shot,
and Swim. Yellamundie Festival Director is a new, dedicated role with end-to-end responsibility for shaping the future of the Festival and of First Peoples performing arts.



Across Festivals ****, **** and ****, the Director will:
Develop and curate the program
Build the funding
Drive artist outreach and promotion
Select and support the artists
Lead the Festival delivery.
The role is Sydney-based (Carriageworks), with potential for hybrid working; part-time, with flexible schedule, ramping up to full-time in peak periods; and under the mentorship of Moogahlin Artistic Director and Co-Founder, Lily Shearer, winner of the **** Red Ochre Award for Cultural Advocacy and Leadership. Experience we're looking for
Theatre-making
Directing; artistic direction
Creative producing
Managing budgets and timelines
Leading creative teams and collaborative practices
First Peoples arts sector knowledge and connections
You will need deep connection to First Peoples' cultures, protocols, and community-led practices. As such, this is an Identified role: Moogahlin considers that Aboriginality is a genuine occupational requirement, under Section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act **** (NSW).
