The Role - Reporting to the CFO, you’ll work as the standalone Payroll Officer within a small finance team. This is a mixed, hands-on rand end-to-end payroll role where you’ll own the function, drive process improvements, and act as the first point of contact for all payroll queries.
Key Responsibilities
Process end-to-end payroll for ~100 employees, ensuring accurate and timely payment
Manage payroll tax, superannuation, and leave reconciliations in line with compliance requirements
Operate and optimise the in-house payroll system
Serve as the primary help deskfor employee and manager payroll enquiries
Collaborate with the payroll system provider to implement updates and workflow improvements
Support managers and staff with payroll education and guidance for a smooth user experience
Contribute to broader finance, compliance and audit activities as needed
What You’ll Bring
Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related field
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Payroll Officer or similar standalone role
Solid proficiency with payroll systems (Employment Hero experience preferred)
Solid understanding of Australian payroll processing, tax, super and compliance
High attention to detail with excellent reconciliation and analytical skills
Explicit communicator with a team-oriented, team-first mindset
Finance background (e.g., assistant accountant) is advantageous
