Job Description
Network Administrator Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled and proactive Network Administrator to join our team and play a key role in maintaining the integrity, performance, and security of our organisation's network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in network administration, a methodical approach to troubleshooting, and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly across all levels of the business.

Key Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain network hardware, software, servers, and workstations, ensuring systems are kept up to date and performing optimally
Monitor network performance on an ongoing basis, identifying and resolving issues proactively to minimise disruption to business operations
Diagnose and troubleshoot network faults, emergencies, and connectivity issues, documenting resolutions and maintaining accurate records of all incidents and modifications
Develop, maintain, and update procedures and documentation for network inventory, configuration changes, and maintenance instructions
Manage user accounts, access permissions, and password policies in line with the organisation's security standards and compliance requirements
Provide network programming and scripting support to address specific business needs and improve the efficiency of network operations
Administer and support servers, printers, and personal computers, ensuring hardware resources remain reliable and fit for purpose
Evaluate and implement upgrades to network infrastructure, recommending improvements that align with business growth and evolving technology requirements
Deliver helpdesk support and technical assistance to end users, resolving issues in a timely manner and escalating complex problems where necessary
Conduct user training and produce clear guidance materials to build internal capability and promote best practice use of network systems
Maintain network security protocols, including firewall management, intrusion detection, and vulnerability assessments, to safeguard organisational data and systems
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to coordinate service delivery, procurement, and project implementation
Required Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related discipline
Proven experience in a network administration or systems administration role within a corporate or enterprise environment
Strong working knowledge of networking protocols, infrastructure components, and technologies including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, LAN/WAN, and firewalls
Demonstrated experience installing, configuring, and managing servers, switches, routers, and associated network hardware
Proficiency in network monitoring and diagnostic tools, with the ability to analyse performance data and respond to anomalies
Solid understanding of network security principles, including access control, patch management, and risk mitigation
Experience maintaining technical documentation, network inventories,
and fault resolution records to a high standard
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work methodically under pressure
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders
Ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and contribute effectively within a collaborative team environment
Preferred Qualifications
Industry certifications such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or equivalent
Experience with virtualisation platforms such as VMware or hyper-V
Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructure and hybrid network environments
Experience working within ITIL frameworks or other structured IT service management methodologies
Exposure to scripting or automation tools such as PowerShell, Python, or Ansible to streamline network operations
