Rydges Resort Hunter Valley - Assistant Golf Superintendent
To assist the Golf Superintendent in carrying out routine golf course maintenance tasks and supervise the green keeping and gardening staff.
Hunter Valley Golf Club is situated on 100 acres of land wrapping around Rydges Resort Hunter Valley which has 419 rooms including villas, children's play activities and walking trails.

Key Accountabilities
In the absence of the Golf Course Superintendent, coordinates maintenance and construction activities to assure continual smooth operation of the golf course.
Assist in the planning and ensure the maintenance of the golf course and hotel surrounds
Assist in establishing budgets and forecast capital expenses
Cut tees, fairways, rough,
semi rough and turf areas of the hotel
Set up the golf course, including changing holes, moving the tee markers, indicating OOB, drop zones and hazards
Assist in the planning of coring, scarifying and dusting greens
Maintaining turf and preparing the course for play
Apply top dressing and fertilizer to all turf areas
Renovate worn or damaged turf
Irrigate all turf areas
Operating all necessary machinery to maintain the golf course and hotel surrounds
Supervise spraying operations including the management of chemicals
Recognise and report turf diseases weeds and pests
Establishing and maintaining turf, plants and gardens on or around the golf course and hotel
Notify supervisor of any issues that may arise in relation to the golf course and hotel surrounds.
Manage the irrigation system
As required help in the design and construction of new course features
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with managers, colleagues and guests.
Promoting the Health and Safety of self and others by adhering to the WHS policies
Assist with other duties as assigned
Qualifications and requirements
Certificate/Diploma in Turf Management, Irrigation or equivalent and/or extensive relative experience
Demonstrated knowledge of turf maintenance and the management of commercial irrigation systems
Proven organisational and project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage financial
and physical resources, resolve problems, meet deadlines, organise activities and achieve results
Proven interpersonal skills and the ability to build working relationships with industry stakeholders and
Demonstrated commitment to high quality and timely service delivery, in accordance with identified
customer needs
Highly developed team building skills and abilities
This role requires the ability to perform the following:
Carrying, lifting, pulling or pushing of heavy objects
Frequently standing up and moving about the facility
Frequently handling objects and equipment to maintain the facility
Frequently bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing and crawling
Communication skills are used frequently when interacting with the other hotel staff and hotel guests
Reading and writing abilities are used to document or record all tasks completed, to order supplies, to receive instructions for the day or to read equipment repair manuals
Mathematical skills, including basic math, are used frequently
Have the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and/or holidays
