Experiencing steady growth, we are looking for an experienced Work Health and Safety Officer to join our team situated in our Brisbane Office.
The Work Health and Safety (WHS) Officer is responsible for supporting and promoting a safe and compliant workplace across all company operations. The role ensures compliance with applicable Work Health and Safety legislation, Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL), environmental obligations, and company policies and procedures
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain and continuously improve the company's WHS Management System, safety policies, procedures and safe work method statements
Monitor compliance with WH&S; Legislation, HVNL, Dangerous goods, environment and RAS Codes of Practice
Conduct workplace inspections and safety audits of depots, workshops, warehouses and transport operations
Assist with the investigation of workplace incidents, injuries, vehicle incidents, near misses and property damage events along with root cause and contributing factors analysis
Coordinate workers' compensation return-to-work programs/ injury management plans
Conduct scheduled and unscheduled workplace inspections




Assist with external audits
Participate in safety committee meetings, assist with the facilitation of toolbox talks and safety meetings
Prepare monthly safety performance reports
Qualifications & Experience:
Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (minimum)
At least 3 years WHS experience in transport, logistics or heavy vehicle operations
Solid understanding of Australian WHS legislation
Return to Work Coordinator Certification (or willing to obtain)
Understanding of Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL)
Experience conducting incident investigations and risk assessments
Strong administrative and record management skills
Current Drivers Licence
Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety systems
Understanding of Chain of Responsibility obligations
Risk assessment and hazard management expertise
Audit and compliance management experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in electronic record keeping and safety management systems
Competence in Microsoft Office and online compliance platforms
Ability to build positive working relationships across all levels of the organisation
