Public Health provides health protection services to the population of NBMLHD, including notifiable disease surveillance, communicable disease outbreak investigation and control, immunisation activities (including the delivery of the NSW School based Vaccination Program), environmental health risk investigation and management, and public health disaster preparedness and management. These activities are underpinned by statutory obligations in relation to the Public Health Act ****, the Public Health (Tobacco) Act ****, and the Smokefree Environment Act ****.
What you'll be doing
Undertaking specific public health projects, which are both part of the routine work of the public health unit and which wholly or partially fulfil the competency requirements of AFPHM trainees.
Assisting public health staff in the investigation of disease outbreaks and public health responses to prescient public health risks.




Contributing to the implementation of public health policies and programs within NBMLHD.
Contributing to the development and analysis of public health surveillance systems in NBMLHD
Contributing to the development of local and State public health policy and activities.
Participating in public health research and research report writing.
Participating in the on call after-hours roster for public health medicine
Where you'll be working
The Public Health Unit is located in a up-to-date office building in the heart of Penrith, next to the train station and Westfield shopping centre and within a 50 minute drive from the Sydney centre.
The Unit covers a broad geographical area, from St Marys in the East to Lithgow in the West and Richmond in the North, encompassing urban and rural areas, the Nepean river as well as the bushland setting of the Blue Mountains National Park..
