Public Sector People are proud to partner with Fraser Coast Regional Council to recruit an Infrastructure Assets Manager - a key leadership role responsible for the strategic management of Council's extensive civil infrastructure asset portfolio.
Reporting to the Executive Manager Infrastructure Engineering, this position provides leadership across asset management, lifecycle planning, condition assessment programs and long-term investment strategies, ensuring Council's infrastructure continues to meet the needs of one of Queensland's fastest-growing regional communities.
The Role
This is far more than a traditional asset management position.
You'll lead the team responsible for managing the performance, condition and lifecycle of Council's civil infrastructure assets, ensuring robust asset information drives sound investment decisions, renewal programs and long-term financial sustainability.
Working across roads, bridges, stormwater, coastal infrastructure and other civil asset classes, you'll oversee inspection programs, asset management planning, data quality, condition assessments and renewal forecasting while partnering closely with operational teams, finance and executive leadership.
The role will also play a critical part in continuing to mature Council's asset management capability, improving asset information and embedding best-practice asset management principles across the organisation. The successful candidate will help ensure inspection programs, asset registers and asset management plans provide reliable information to support maintenance, capital renewal and long-term financial planning.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading Council's civil infrastructure asset management function
Developing and implementing Asset Management Plans across multiple asset classes

Managing condition assessment and inspection programs
Driving lifecycle planning, renewal modelling and long-term investment strategies
Improving asset data quality, asset registers and information systems
Supporting long-term financial planning through robust asset information
Leading and developing a specialist asset management team
Providing strategic advice to senior leaders on infrastructure investment and service levels
Driving continuous improvement across asset management systems, governance and organisational capability
About You
You are an experienced infrastructure asset management professional who combines strategic thinking with strong technical capability and leadership experience.
You enjoy using asset information to solve complex infrastructure challenges and have successfully led teams responsible for managing large civil infrastructure portfolios.
You will bring:
Extensive experience in infrastructure asset management and lifecycle planning
Strong understanding of Asset Management Plans, condition assessments and renewal forecasting
Experience managing civil infrastructure assets such as roads, stormwater, bridges or transport infrastructure
Knowledge of asset data management, asset registers and asset information systems
An understanding of how asset information supports valuation, depreciation and long-term financial planning
Robust leadership capability with experience developing high-performing technical teams
Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills

Relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Asset Management or a related discipline, with postgraduate qualifications and professional memberships highly regarded.
Local government experience will be highly regarded, particularly for candidates with experience managing large public infrastructure portfolios. However, Council is equally interested in experienced professionals from transport authorities, utilities, engineering consultancies and major infrastructure organisations who can bring contemporary asset management expertise and a collaborative leadership style.
Why Join Fraser Coast Regional Council?
This opportunity offers:
Leadership of one of Queensland's most significant regional civil infrastructure asset portfolios
The opportunity to shape long-term infrastructure investment and asset management strategy
A highly influential leadership role supporting Executive decision-making
A collaborative leadership team committed to continuous improvement
Genuine opportunity to further mature Council's asset management capability
The chance to leave a lasting legacy across a rapidly growing regional community
Fraser Coast Regional Council has invested significantly in strengthening its asset management capability and is seeking a leader who can continue that journey. You'll join a forward-thinking organisation committed to improving asset information, enhancing lifecycle planning and ensuring infrastructure investment is based on robust evidence and sound strategic planning. The Council has identified this role as critical to improving asset capture, inspection programs, renewal planning and long-term sustainability across its civil infrastructure portfolio.
Be part of something that matters, delivering infrastructure that supports thriving communities today and for generations to come.
Applications close: Monday 24 August at 5pm.
