We are currently seeking an experiencedCNC Programmer / First Class Machinistto join our Smithfield Toolroom on a full-time, permanent basis.
This hands-on role is ideal for a skilled machinist with strong CNC programming and setup experience, who takes pride in producing high-precision components in a toolroom or precision manufacturing workplace.
Key Responsibilities
CNC programming, setup, and operation (primarily milling)
Manufacture precision components to engineering drawings and specifications
Program proving and first-off inspections
Tool selection and machining strategy optimisation
Inspection using micrometres, verniers, and gauges
Troubleshooting machining and production issues
Maintain tooling, machinery, and a safe, clean work environment




Skills & Experience
Trade qualifiedFirst Class Machinist / Toolmaker(Australian recognised) would be advantageous
Strong CNC milling programming and operating experience
Experience in a toolroom or precision engineering environment
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Experience with CAM software (CAD/CAM advantageous)
Experience with CNC Wire EDM (highly regarded but not essential)
Strong understanding of tolerances and precision machining
Solid knowledge of WHS practices
Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or in a team
