u&u; Recruitment Partners is proud to partner with Urban Utilities in the appointment of a current Legal Counsel. The legal team is highly regarded within the business and is evolving into a proactive commercial partner, working closely with stakeholders to provide practical, risk-based legal advice that supports strategic decision-making.
Role
Reporting to the General Counsel, this role will primarily focus on property, planning and infrastructure matters across Urban Utilities' extensive property portfolio.
Responsibilities
Property acquisitions and disposals;
Easements and land tenure;
Infrastructure and development agreements;
Property access arrangements;
Compulsory acquisition matters; and
Planning and project-related legal issues.
Importantly,
this is not a narrow property role.
As your experience develops, you will also gain exposure to broader commercial legal work, including construction, procurement, commercial contracting, regulatory and other business advisory matters.
Working closely with the General Counsel and Senior Legal Counsel (Property & Planning), you'll partner directly with stakeholders across the organisation, providing practical, commercially focused legal advice and becoming a trusted adviser to the business.
About You
You will be a qualified lawyer with approximately 4 – 7 years' post-admission experience, gained in either private practice or an in-house legal team.
Qualifications
Experience advising on commercial property matters;
Strong drafting, negotiation and problem-solving skills;
A practical, commercially focused approach to legal advice;
Confidence building relationships with internal stakeholders; and
Initiative, curiosity and a genuine desire to understand the business.
Previous in-house experience is not essential.
