RCR Mining Technologies (RCRMT), a leading business unit of NRW Holdings, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Engineering team based at our Head Office in Bunbury.This is an exciting prospect to deliver robust engineering solutions for clients across Australia and internationally, working on complex mechanical plant and equipment within the bulk materials handling sector.
About the RoleReporting to the Discipline Manager – Mechanical Engineering, you will be responsible for the design, development, verification and validation of mechanical plant and equipment in line with Australian Standards and statutory requirements.You will collaborate closely with engineers, designers, drafting teams, project delivery and commercial stakeholders to ensure high-quality, compliant and practical engineering outcomes.This role offers exposure across the full project lifecycle — from tender support through to detailed design, verification and project delivery.
Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver engineering and detailed design scopes of workPerform and verify designs using FEA (ANSYS, Nastran, Strand7), first principles calculations and best practice engineering methodsEnsure compliance with relevant Australian Standards and client specificationsApply Safety in Design principlesParticipate in design reviews, HAZOPs, risk assessments and constructability workshopsManage engineering interfaces with structural and electrical disciplinesReview and approve engineering deliverablesIssue and respond to Technical Queries and Non-ConformancesSupport pre-contracts and tendering activities with technical inputAssist with labour estimates,



schedules and cost inputsMentor graduate and junior engineersContribute to continuous improvement of engineering systems and processes About You To be successful in this role, you will have:Degree in Mechanical EngineeringMinimum 2+ years' experience in a mechanical design engineering roleStrong mechanical design capability within heavy industryDemonstrated FEA competency (ANSYS, Nastran and/or Strand7)Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering documentationStrong understanding of engineering processes and quality systemsExcellent organisational and communication skillsAbility to manage competing deadlines in a dynamic environmentHighly regarded:Experience in bulk materials handling or machine designMining or resources sector experienceAutodesk Inventor proficiencyTendering and estimating exposureWorking toward CPEng or RPEng Why Join RCR Mining Technologies?
