Job Description
Blood Borne Virus / Sexually Transmitted Infections RN Role Overview Provide sexual and blood-borne virus (BBV) testing, treatment, education and prevention services in clinical and community settings.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Care Assess clients and provide testing for BBVs (HIV, hepatitis B & C) and STIs.
Collect specimens (blood, swabs) and manage results and follow-up. Provide treatment, health advice, counselling and referrals within scope of practice. Support prevention activities such as vaccinations and harm-reduction education.
Community & Public Health Deliver health education on safer sex, transmission, testing and prevention. Work with doctors, allied health and community workers.
Assist with contact tracing and public health follow-up. Administration & Quality Maintain accurate clinical records and reports.
Contribute to service improvement, audits, education and training.
Experience in sexual health, community or public health nursing preferred. Solid skills in assessment, specimen collection, counselling and education. Excellent communication, cultural sensitivity and non-judgmental approach.
Postgraduate training in sexual/reproductive health or public health is desirable.
