At Newcastle Private Hospital we are seeking Registered Nurses to join our speciality surgical ward team permanently, either full-time or part time. The specialty surgical ward covers predominantly Orthopaedics, Neurosurgery and Bariatrics.
There's also the ability to pick up shifts across other surgical ward areas.

Come and join our expert team of surgeons, specialist doctors, dedicated nurses and allied health professionals at Newcastle Private Hospital. We are a 189 bed, acute, private hospital facility co-located on the John Hunter Campus at Rankin Park. The hospital has 11 theatres including a hybrid theatre and a 15 bed Intensive Care Unit.
We also have a cardiac suite including a cardiac catheter laboratory and a 16 bed Coronary Care Unit. A private maternity suite including 6 birthing suites and a special care baby nursery is available for families in the Newcastle region. Newcastle Private Oncology Centre provides specialty care for individuals and their families/carers undergoing all aspects of cancer treatment and care with both an inpatient unit and day infusion lounge.
As Registered Nurse your responsibilities will include:
Undertaking acute nursing care in accordance with legislation
Delivering evidence-based nursing care
Liaising with the multi-disciplinary team
Focussing on patient and staff safety
Supervising,
directing and guiding nursing team members; ENs and AINs to deliver patient care
Proactively assessing perioperative nursing care provided to focus on the best outcomes
Completing all required documentation in accordance with local and National Policies
current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
minimum of 2 years relevant post registration qualifications
flexibility to work a seven-day roster including night shifts
experience working in an acute surgical setting
ability to work effectively in a supportive and multi-disciplinary team
ability to advocate for and implement individualised patient centred care
professional manner when working with complex situations
advanced communication skills
ability and willingness to learn new skills
knowledge and application of quality improvement initiative using research principles to support evidence-based practice, including development of policies and guidelines
Highly Desirable
exposure to Orthopaedics, Bariatrics or Neurosurgery surgical ward settings
