Position Overview:
We are seeking experienced 1st Class Sheetmetal Workers to join our team and support major marine class renewal projects. We are also open to considering experienced 2nd Class Sheetmetal Workers and Insulators who have a strong background in marine fabrication and are looking to further develop their skills within a high-performing team.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on significant marine projects with the potential for the right candidates to transition into a permanent position. The role also offers opportunities for career growth and development across multiple disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
Fabricate, install and repair Sheetmetal components within a marine environment
Complete class renewal and maintenance scopes to a high standard
Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions
High attention to detail and quality workmanship
Reliable, proactive and committed to delivering quality outcomes
Perform accurate measuring, cutting, forming and installation of sheet metal materials
Work with aluminium, stainless steel and other marine-grade materials
Ensure all work meets quality,
safety and project requirements
Collaborate with trades, supervisors and project teams to deliver successful outcomes
About You:
Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Sheet metal) or equivalent or 2+ years' experience in sheet metal or insulation within a marine environment
Marine, shipbuilding, defence or heavy industrial experience preferred
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong commitment to safety, quality and workmanship
Physically fit with a strong work ethic and positive attitude
Current White Card and Australian Driver's Licence
Eligible to obtain and maintain a Defence Common Access Card (DCAC)
Confined Space, Working at Heights, EWP, Forklift and Fire Sentry tickets are desirable
