We are currently seeking an experienced CNC Programmer / First Class Machinist to join our Smithfield Toolroom on a full time, permanent basis.
This hands‑on role is ideal for a skilled machinist with strong CNC programming and setup experience, who takes pride in producing high‑precision components in a toolroom or precision manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
CNC programming, setup, and operation (primarily milling)
Manufacture precision components to engineering drawings and specifications
Program proving and first‑off inspections
Tool selection and machining strategy optimisation
Inspection using micrometres, verniers, and gauges
Troubleshooting machining and production issues
Maintain tooling, machinery, and a safe, clean work workplace
Skills & Experience
Trade qualified First Class Machinist / Toolmaker (Australian recognised)
would be advantageous
Strong CNC milling programming and operating experience
Experience in a toolroom or precision engineering environment
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Experience with CAM software (CAD/CAM advantageous)
Experience with CNC Wire EDM (highly regarded but not essential)
Robust understanding of tolerances and precision machining
Solid knowledge of WHS practices
Strong problem‑solving ability and attention to detail
Reliable, self‑motivated, and able to work independently or in a team
