Senior Financial Accountant | Major Infrastructure Project | 6 months (temporary)

A rare opportunity has become available for a
Senior Financial Accountant
to join a high-performing finance team supporting the delivery of a major infrastructure project. Working within a complex and fast-paced environment, you will play a key role in financial control, project costing, reporting and process improvement while partnering closely with finance, commercial and operational stakeholders.
This position is ideal for a
recently qualified CA/CPA professional
, someone coming from a Big 4/Mid-Tier audit background with 2–3 years of industry experience, or an accountant looking to further develop their career within a large-scale infrastructure or project-based setting.
The Opportunity
Reporting to senior finance leadership, you will be responsible for supporting month-end reporting, reconciliations, project cost allocations, recoveries and financial analysis across a complex joint venture structure.
Beyond the core accounting responsibilities, this business is actively investing in technology, automation and finance transformation. As such, we're keen to speak with candidates who have a genuine interest in
AI, automation and process improvement
, and who can demonstrate how they have used tools such as
Power Query, Power BI, Power Automate, Copilot, ChatGPT Enterprise, Excel automation/macros or similar technologies
to improve finance processes and reporting outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Support month-end close activities including journals, accruals, reconciliations and financial control processes.
Prepare and maintain project cost allocation and recovery models across labour, plant, equipment and fleet costs.
Reconcile financial, operational and project data sources to ensure reporting accuracy and integrity.
Assist with management reporting, variance analysis, audit requests and compliance requirements.
Partner with finance, commercial, operations and systems teams to resolve costing, coding and reporting issues.
Maintain and enhance financial models, templates, dashboards and recurring reporting processes.
Identify opportunities to streamline, automate and improve finance workflows.
Support ongoing systems and process transformation initiatives, including the migration from Jobpac to SAP S/4HANA.
Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement through the practical use of analytics, automation and AI tools.
About You
CA or CPA qualified (or nearing completion).
Experience gained within audit, financial accounting, management accounting, project finance or commercial finance environments.
Strong understanding of month-end reporting, reconciliations, accruals, financial controls and working paper preparation.
Advanced Excel capability with confidence working across large and complex data sets.
Exposure to project accounting, job costing, infrastructure, construction or engineering environments will be highly regarded.
Demonstrated interest and examples within process improvement, analytics, AI or finance automation.
Understanding of governance, controls, data security and responsible AI usage within a finance function.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities and reporting deadlines.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
