Based at
either our Townsville or Mackay branch
, this position will primarily support our Service and Engineering operations across Queensland.
About the role:
Reporting to the Regional Health & Safety Coordinator, you will play an important role in strengthening health and safety culture, compliance and operational performance across our Queensland sites. Working closely with frontline teams, operational leaders and members of the broader national Health & Safety team, you will support the implementation of Fenner's health and safety initiatives, programs and improvement priorities.
This role is well suited to a practical problem-solver with strong communication and relationship-building skills, sound technical knowledge and a genuine commitment to supporting safe work.
Key responsibilities include:
Collaborating with leaders and team members to strengthen health and safety culture and reinforce safe behaviours and work practices.
Conducting routine inspections to identify hazards, risks, and supporting the identification and implementation of effective controls.
Proactively identifying improvement opportunities and supporting preventive actions that enhance health and safety performance.
Providing advice and support to operational teams on risk management, legislative compliance and Fenner's health and safety requirements.
Supporting the delivery of employee inductions, health and safety training and awareness programs for current and existing employees.
Coordinating health & safety programs and activities including risk assessments,



training compliance activities and compliance activities in partnership with operational leaders.
Supporting incident reporting and investigations, including the identification, documentation and close-out of corrective actions.
Assisting with the development and review of procedures, risk documentation, tender submissions and other health and safety materials.
Facilitating health and safety meetings, toolbox talks and workforce consultation activities.
Working with local, divisional and national teams to deliver health and safety projects, campaigns and continuous improvement initiatives.
Maintaining a strong, visible presence across operational workplaces to build workforce engagement, support frontline leaders and maintain strong customer relationships.
About you:
We are looking for a collaborative Health & Safety professional who is motivated, proactive and comfortable working directly with frontline teams and operational leaders.
You will be a practical self-starter who can balance advisory support with constructive challenge. You will be passionate about problem-solving, engaging the workforce and helping teams develop safer and more effective ways of working.
The following skills and experience are key to your success:
3-5 years' experience within a similar position, preferably within mining, engineering, manufacturing, construction, field service or another relevant industrial environment.
A recognised qualification in Work Health and Safety, or equivalent as a minimum.
Sound working knowledge of applicable WHS legislation, regulations, codes of practice and risk management principles.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others and build trust and respectful relationships at all levels.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage dynamic workloads
Strong verbal and written communication skills with high attention to detail




Experience supporting or conducting incident investigations using methodologies (ICAM preferred).
The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a geographically dispersed team.
Digitally proficient including sound Microsoft Office skills
Capacity to travel regularly, and as required.
Additionally, the following experience would be viewed favourably:
Formal safety auditing qualifications or relevant audit experience.
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
ICAM incident investigation training.
Current First Aid certification.
Drug and alcohol testing certification.
Working knowledge of safety systems used by principal mining companies in Queensland.
