The partner'srepresent Australian and international clients on a variety ofemployment matters including human resources, industrial relations,executive, business protection and complex compliance matters andthe employment aspects of mergers and acquisitions, workplacerestructuring and business transformation.
Aboutthe role
We currentlyhave an opportunity available for a Senior Associate to join ourLabour, Employment & Workplace Safety group in Sydney and work witha team of partners and lawyers across our national and globalLabour, Employment & Workplace Safety group.
You will beworking on advisory, transactional and litigious matters across theentire scope of employment, industrial and workplace safetymatters.
The work is complex, challenging, often highly sensitiveand required to be turned around quickly.
You will be wellsupported and given opportunity to grow and further develop yourskills and experience in this in-demand area of law.
You will haveopportunities to work closely with the local partners, otherpractitioners in the broader Labour, Employment & Workplace Safetyteam, as well as working on matters autonomously.
No two days willbe the same – one day you could be advising on a heavily contestedindustrial relations dispute or preparing for an urgent Courthearing to seek injunctive relief in equity litigation and thenext, on a client's site assisting with a workplace health andsafety investigation or advising on employment issues arising froma complex corporate transaction, insolvency or businessrestructure.




On a day-to-day basis you will be involved in a wide range of activitiesincluding:
Representing employersin employment-related disputes such as unfair dismissal,discrimination, and general protection claims
Negotiating, draftingand providing advice on employment related documents including,contracts of employment, executive employment arrangements,service agreements and workplace policies
Advisingon compliance with employment laws and strategies for achievingdesired client outcomes
Litigating matters inthe State and Federal Courts, Tribunals and Commissions andutilising complaint handling and alternative dispute resolutiontechniques, such as mediation and conciliation
Developing anddelivering internal and external training programs on a rangeof employment matters
Participating inbusiness development and client relationshipactivities

You will be well versed in helpingclients find practical solutions to legal issues, as well asexperience assisting with business developmentactivities.
Thesuccessful applicant will ideally have 5-8 years PQE experience ata well-regarded firm in its employment andsafety team, haveexceptional technical abilities and be commerciallyminded.
You should bepractical and proactive in your approach, possess strongproblem-solving skills and be eager to develop further.
Ahigh level of client service is expected as are written and oralcommunication skills and excellent organisationalabilities.
