Veterinary Assistant
$***** per hour| Multi Hire| 6-months Fixed Term

As a
Veterinary Assistant
at Sea World, you'll be hands‐on in supporting our veterinarians to maintain the health and welfare of our incredible animal family.
From assisting with medical care and preventative health programs to helping with research and daily wellbeing, your role is vital in ensuring our animals thrive.
Key Responsibilities
Playing a vital role in animal health and supporting our vets every step of the way.
You'll be:
Maintaining the veterinary hospital in a tidy and hygienic condition
Maintaining the equipment and ensuring all equipment is working satisfactorily
Assisting the veterinarian to maintain the preventative medical programs
Assisting the veterinarian with any animal procedures
Dispensing and administering drugs to animals under the supervision of the veterinarian
Assisting in rescues and rehabilitation of sick, injured or orphaned wildlife presented to Sea World.
Candidates who progress through the first and second round interviews will be required to complete both
(a) a Fitness for Work Assessment and
(b)



a Psychometric Assessment (DISC).
These assessments are conducted at VRTP's expense and form part of the overall recruitment process.

What We're Looking For
Blending nursing, problem solving smarts, and passion for animals!
You'll bring:
Blue Card is essential
* (Please be advised that the cost of a Blue Card is currently $******)
Bachelor of Veterinary Technology or similar is preferable
Experience working as a veterinary nurse
Preferential experience working with native and/or exotic species
Self-organization, problem solving & time management skills
Excellent communication skills, delegation & guidance
*The Queensland Government has increased enforcement of the Blue Card (Working with Children) No Card, No Start legislation.
This position requires a Blue Card, as the role may include working with children.
