About the role
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Senior Health Worker (Identified) plays a key role in supporting culturally safe, clinically relevant and patient-centred healthcare services within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Services at the Caboolture Satellite Health Centre.
Working as an equally valued member of a multidisciplinary team, the role promotes health literacy, strengthens engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and supports improved health outcomes through culturally responsive care and advocacy.
The successful candidate will provide advanced health worker services, support care planning, facilitate access to healthcare, and contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives.
The role also assists in enhancing cultural capability across the workforce,



supports collaboration between healthcare providers and communities, and promotes culturally safe service delivery across the continuum of care.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
Demonstrate high-level knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, protocols, history and community engagement practices to support culturally safe healthcare delivery.
Provide advanced clinical and health worker services, including health assessments, community screening, primary healthcare interventions and patient advocacy within scope of practice.
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, health service providers and community stakeholders to improve health literacy, continuity of care and patient outcomes.
Support care planning, service coordination and quality improvement activities while demonstrating leadership, mentoring and professional support for Health Workers.
Promote culturally responsive healthcare by maintaining strong community relationships, participating in cultural engagement activities and supporting organisational cultural capability initiatives.
