Registered Nurse or Aboriginal Health Practitioner
Awabakal Ltd has provided health & community services to Aboriginal people living across the Newcastle and Lower Hunter region for more than 40 years and is dedicated to advancing the wellbeing of our community.
Awabakal Ltd' is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse or Aboriginal Health Practitioner to join our team.
This is a part-time prospect where you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality nursing care to our patients.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Registered Nurse or Aboriginal Health Practitioner to join our team.
Working collaboratively with the General Practitioners and multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for delivering high quality and integrated primary health care to Awabakal clients.
Including:
Performing clinical duties within the required level of clinical competency, according to best available evidence.
Including but not limited to; triage, immunisations and other injections, wound management, chronic disease management, ECGs, and collections of pathology samples.
Assist doctors with clinical procedures and maintain clinical documentation.
Explain procedures to patients, providing them with support and reassurance.
Assist with data management, diagnostic services, networking with other providers, planning and management of patient care and patient advocacy.
Conduct preventative/screening procedures.
Assist with patient education and community health promotion activities.

What we're looking for
Experience working with Aboriginal people in a primary health care setting
Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice and/or Community
Minimum of 2 years' experience working as a Registered Nurse in practice setting or surgical setting
Solid clinical skills and the ability to provide safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with patients, families, and the healthcare team
Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems
A commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education
