About the role:
Supports the delivery and continuous improvement of the High School Program by coordinating student and family engagement within an allocated region and strengthening relationships with each students school, community, and cultural stakeholders.
Builds referral pathways and implements targeted re‐engagement strategies as directed by Managers and Leads.
Working in partnership with the Program Delivery Manager, applies a strengths‐based, person‐centred, and trauma‐informed approach to deliver culturally safe activities, including life skills workshops.
Supports Community Engagement Support Facilitators and Mentors to enhance student engagement, confidence, cultural identity, and future pathways.
Key responsibilities:
Community Engagement
You will be allocated 1 or 2 regions that you will coordinate.
Including guiding any Community Engagement Support Facilitator allocated to your region with local knowledge.
When required, you will attend any school or community functions/events alongside the Delivery Manager and/or Schools Partnership & Engagement Manager.
Establish and maintain relationships with program stakeholders including students, their families and schools, particularly in relation to academic supports and camp attendance and engagement.
Assess needs of students and utilize various techniques to assist students to develop goals for academics and future pathways
Establish and maintain a network of community services and resources that can be offered to students for wrap around supports
Liaise with schools to monitor student progress, collect academic data and other information related to student academic supports, needs and performance.
Create and implement an annual schedule of stakeholder touch points such as face‐to‐face meetings, telephone contact, social media contact, community events and school‐based events
In consultation with the Delivery Manager, coordinate school visits to engage students and provide 1:1 support
Design and deliver culturally safe life skills workshops for in‐person programs, ensuring content is evidence‐informed and based on a strengths‐based and trauma informed lens
Design and deliver a range of community events to build rapport and engagement with High School Program participants, families, schools and other relevant stakeholders.
Monitor and report on effectiveness of engagement activities and make recommendations for improvements, where necessary.
Record all stakeholder contact in Dynamics.
Student Onboarding
Support the onboarding process by liaising with students, families and schools to complete the necessary onboarding paperwork and provide an introduction to the program.
Wrap‐Around Student Support within Aurora
Lead the work with individual students, families and schools to understand their academic and social support requirements
Support students to access their Aurora Support Plan funding, arranging for the purchase of key academic tools, equipment and resources in line with cultural, academic and social and wellbeing goals.
Consult with the Tutoring Leader on a regular basis to ensure appropriate tutoring support and understand its impact on students' academic improvement.
Manage academic support spending for student cohorts in line with annual budget.
Refer students to additional support services as needed.
Identify students at risk of disengagement within the program and consult relevant team members to support and re‐engage.
Where relevant, implement re‐engagement strategies.
Build working relationships with other programs within Aurora to enhance pathways between pathway programs such as internships, study tours and scholarships.
Cultural Camps and Engagement Days
Support the team to cultivate a strong, values led culture that consistently delivers positive program outcomes across NSW.
Assist in contributing towards risk management within the programs (This includes but is not limited to; WHS, child safety, behaviour management)
Participate in the design and organisation of Cultural Enrichment Camps (up to 6 multiday camps per year and up to 12 engagement days per year).
Directed by the program logic and curriculum, design and deliver life skills sessions for young people at camps and engagements, as required.
Support mentors to co‐facilitate sessions with you or other Community Engagement Coordinators/Facilitators.
Support the Learning and Events Leader in planning the logistics of each camp, as required.
Support the Program Delivery Manager to lead camps, working to provide safe environments, support with the students and facilitate activities.
Participate in post‐camp evaluations and contribute to continuous improvement.
