An exciting opportunity has become available for an experiencedSite Safety/WHS Officerto join a respected commercial construction business on a brand-recent project based inMelrose Park.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role from the commencement of the project, working closely with the site team to ensure the highest standards of workplace safety, environmental compliance and contractor management are maintained throughout construction.
Initially offered as a3-month fixed-term contract, there is strong potential for extension based on project requirements and performance.
The Role Reporting to the WHSE Manager, you will be responsible for supporting site safety, environmental compliance and fostering a proactive safety culture across the project.
Your responsibilities will include:
Reviewing and approving subcontractor documentation including SWMS, JSA, SDS and Environmental Management Plans.
Conducting regular site safety and environmental inspections.
Managing contractor and visitor inductions.
Assisting with incident investigations and implementing corrective actions.
Monitoring compliance with WHS legislation and environmental regulations.
Maintaining accurate safety documentation, inspection reports and compliance records.
Supporting waste management,



pollution prevention and environmental initiatives.
Promoting a positive and proactive safety culture across the project team.
Working with site management to identify and minimise project risks.
About You
To be successful you will ideally possess:
Previous experience as a WHS, HSE, HSEQ or Safety Officer within the construction industry.
A minimum of 2+ years' experience working on commercial, residential or civil construction projects.
Qualifications in Work Health & Safety, Occupational Health & Safety or Environmental Management.
Strong understanding of Australian WHS legislation and environmental compliance.
Experience reviewing SWMS, JSA, SDS and contractor safety documentation.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
Experience using safety management systems such as Procore, HammerTech, 1Breadcrumb or similar platforms will be highly regarded.
