Job Description Oaks Port Douglas Resort are looking for an experienced Conference, Sales & Events Manager to join their team on a full time basis.
As the Conference, Sales & Events Manager, you will be responsible for leading the Events Team while managing the full sales and event lifecycle from enquiry through to execution.
This role plays a key part in driving revenue, achieving conferencing and events targets, and maximising profitability across all events, weddings, conferences, and social functions.
Key Responsibilities Include: Qualify event enquiries, ensuring business aligns with availability, strategy, and revenue goalsDrive sales performance through proactive follow-up, conversion of enquiries, and client relationship managementIdentify key need periods and implement promotional strategies to maximise revenue opportunitiesPrepare proposals, negotiate contracts,
and ensure all events are costed to achieve profitability targetsMonitor event profitability, including managing costs, preparing P&L; reporting, and ensuring budgets are met and exceededMaintain accurate sales activity reporting, including conversions, lost business, and pipeline trackingConduct site inspections, client meetings, and actively pursue new business opportunitiesCoordinate and oversee events end-to-end, including being onsite where required to ensure successful deliveryServe as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring exceptional service and seamless event executionLiaise with internal departments and external vendors to deliver high-quality events aligned with brand standardsActively promote conferencing, events, and food & beverage offerings in line with the annual strategic marketing planAct as a problem solver, managing issues before, during, and after events to ensure client satisfaction Qualifications We are looking for a passionate and commercially driven Conference, Sales & Events professional who enjoys leading a team and delivering exceptional customer experiences, while achieving strong sales results.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
6+ months experience in Conference & Events Management with a strong sales focusDemonstrated ability to achieve revenue targets and drive business growthStrong communication and relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholdersStrong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneouslyA proactive, results-driven mindset with a focus on continuous improvementHigh attention to detail and ability to manage reporting and administrative requirementsProficiency in MS Office programs Additional Information At Minor Hotels, we value our people as the heart of our success.
