Join the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (RBWH) as a Senior Occupational Therapist (Hand Therapy), delivering advanced, evidence-based care for complex upper limb conditions while leading service innovation, mentoring clinicians and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to achieve outstanding patient outcomes.
About the role
Casual opportunity to provide high level Occupational Therapy hand therapy services within the the outpatient and acute hospital settings at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital. There is a requirement to function to a high level within the RBWH multidisciplinary team and support the continuum of care through liaison with external hand therapy specialist providers to achieve optimal service delivery.
Your duties will be complex and varied and the majority will be performed with a high level of independence. The position also provides mentoring and clinical practice supervision to less experienced staff and students.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
Apply high-level, independent, and evidence-informed clinical skills and practice models in the delivery of Occupational Therapy, Hand Therapy services to patients with complex upper limb conditions, that are responsive to personal factors (physical, psychosocial, and cultural) and environmental circumstances, with infrequent need for clinical practice supervision.
Initiate and contribute to collaborative decision making, including recognising the potential for conflict to occur, working to ensure a common understanding of care decisions, and addressing and resolving disagreements to enhance teamwork.



Deliver a comprehensive and coordinated treatment approach to optimise clinical outcomes.
Monitor and report on Occupational Therapy, Hand Therapy service clinical practices and outcomes to facilitate the analysis of service trends and actively inform service improvements that enhance the delivery of Occupational Therapy services across the RBWH and wider MNHHS.
Apply research and inquiry skills to challenges in practice and in collaboration with patients, their families/carers and the interprofessional team. Initiate, plan and evaluate both discipline specific and multidisciplinary research, and patient safety and quality service improvement activities to expand the knowledge base of the Occupational Therapy discipline and hand therapy service and enhance service delivery, efficiency, and excellence in patient care, education, and research.
