We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Genetic Counsellor to join Pathology Queensland's Genetic Testing Stewardship Service. Working collaboratively with laboratory scientists, pathologists, clinicians and other stakeholders you will provide expert advice on genetic test selection and interpretation to support high-quality, clinically appropriate and cost-effective genetic testing. This role contributes to service improvement, patient safety and better clinical outcomes while offering an exciting chance to broaden your scope of practice by applying clinical genetics expertise within the fields of genomic pathology and laboratory medicine. Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
Demonstrated high-level knowledge of up-to-date standards for genetic testing of patients including laboratory standards (e.g NPAAC requirements)
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to maintain internal and external relationships
Experience leading, managing and working well within a team structure
Experience working with clinical pathology services would be an advantage
Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
Appointment to this position requires at least a tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification in Genetic Counselling (i.e. Graduate Diploma/Masters Genetic Counselling OR HGSA Part 1 certification)
