We are looking for a reliable and detail-focused Assistant Accountant to support our finance team with day-to-day accounting, data entry, reconciliations, and reporting tasks.
About the Role
The Assistant Accountant will play an important role in supporting the finance function by ensuring financial data is entered accurately and reports are prepared on time. This role is suitable for someone who is organised, confident with numbers, and willing to learn and support different areas of the accounts department.
Key Responsibilities
Enter bills, invoices, receipts, and other financial transactions into accounting systems.
Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks.
Reconcile supplier statements, bank transactions, and general ledger accounts.
Assist with preparing weekly and monthly financial reports.
Maintain accurate records and ensure supporting documents are saved correctly.
Follow up on missing information from internal teams or suppliers.
Assist with month-end reporting and account reconciliations.
Support data clean-up and system updates across Xero, Simpro, and other business systems.
Work closely with the Finance / Accounts Manager to improve reporting accuracy and processes.
Perform general administrative and finance support tasks as required.
Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field is preferred.
Previous experience in accounts, bookkeeping or data entry role is preferred.
Good attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong Excel skills, including basic formulas, sorting, filtering, and formatting.
Experience with Xero, Simpro, or similar accounting/job management systems would be highly regarded.
Positive communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise tasks.
Willingness to learn and support different areas of the finance team.
Understanding basic accounting principles would be an advantage.
